[Review] Looxi Beauty Custom Highlighter Palette
So the formatting is all messed up because I had to copy paste from my imgur. Never again.
Top Row: Foxy, Bombshell, Honeychild, Centerfold
Bottom Row: Luxe, Valley Girl, Ever After, Caramel's a Bitch (eyeshadow)
Quick synopsis: this palette is sold for $50 with your choice of 6 medium sized highlighters (36mm pans) and the large magnetic palette. The owner graciously threw in the temporarily discontinued highlight Foxy and one of the new limiter edition Autumn Allure shadows in Caramel's a Bitch since I loved the name. You can fit 8 highlighters in this palette, plus 3 eyeshadows. My only complaint is that the palettes are extremely basic, but since I didn't own a magnetic palette, this was an easy way to get one.
These are a bit powdery, but extremely pigmented. Just accidentally touching one gives me enough for a decent nose highlight (if I did that).Synthetic brushes pick them up extremely well, but i don't think a fan brush will work with this orientation unless you want to pick up each highlight out of the palette for use. I haven't gotten to try everything, so this "review" is incomplete.
Centerfold, Honeychild, Bombshell, and Foxy (OOS)
One swipe with my finger. Currently Foxy is out of stock (OOS), but Centerfold is a proven dupe for Becca Champagne Pop.
All of these shades seem similar, but i feel each will show different tones when blended out onto the skin. I'm working on including swatches of each on my face as time goes by. For now there's face swatches of Ever After and Foxy.
Luxe, Valley Girl, Ever After, Caramel's a Bitch (eyeshadow)
One swipe with my finger. Valley Girl and Ever After are the less traditional highlight shades... and they look amazing. I was extremely drawn in by coral/gold shift of Valley Girl and purple is my everything, so I had to have Ever After. Luxe is fucking GOLD. Not copper, not bronze, but fucking GOLD. Caramel's a Bitch is a shimmery/metallic champagne color that works as a perfect one eyeshadow look shade I'll never give up. It blended amazingly with no base, but there was fallout, but it was light and easy to remove. I do eyes before the rest of my face, so that didn't bother me too much.
Foxy
SITE DESCRIPTION: (there's no listing so I couldn't rip a descripion)
Smooth, golden, and perfect. I was right to fall in love with this highlight first. I'm even happier I got a chance to try it because the owner had a few hanging around.
Honeychild
SITE DESCRIPTION: This is without a doubt, the pride and joy of Looxi. This golden-beige is beyond perfection. Slightly metallic with silver undertones, this highlight will not only turn heads, but break necks.
This is my FAVORITE highlight honestly. I love how soft and warm it is on my face. It almost just looks like my skin is that radiant, but it's not. It's Looxi.
Centerfold
SITE DESCRIPTION: Centerfold is a gorgeous highlight with reflective peach and champagne tones. Perfect for those with fair to medium skin tones.
CORRECTION: After talking to Looxi, apparently my Centerfold is just overly powdery because it's a bad batch she meant to throw out. I'll be receiving another (by force) and will probably have to reswatch.
Valley Girl
SITE DESCRIPTION: Like, totally! This bubble gum highlight is sure to have everyone noticing you. With coral/gold undertones, this color, like the 80's, will never get old.
Like, Oh Me Gee this glow is too totally tubular! The coral/gold shift is extremely hard to photograph on my own face, so I'll ask for help another day, so it looks a soft gold with orange at the edges.
Luxe
SITE DESCRIPTION: Gorgeous. This stunning rose gold highlight will turn heads. Close to metallic, it is truly an attention getter.
This is a legit gold highlight on me. I went to work and got told my highlight was on point by my manager. If you want to feel made of gold flakes chocolate, you need this highlight.
Ever After
SITE DESCRIPTION: This is a shade you never you knew you wanted, but now you can't live without. It has amazing iridescent qualities that are almost impossible to find anywhere else. Stunning beige with the most unreal violet undertone.
This is by far the most perfect purple highlight I've ever come across. I feel like I'm Kat Von D Piaf, but warm chocolate instead of cool chocolate. The glow is soft and melts into my skin instead of sitting on top of it.
Summary: 6 powder highlights and a Z palette for $50, good deal. All swatch and blend beautifully except for Centerfold which was from a dud batch. New review coming soon. Need to buy one for to fill palette. Need more eyeshadows before I review.
Would I repurchase? Probably I would buy Honey Child, Foxy, and Ever After in the large size and put them in the palette instead of 6-8 mediums. There's still 3-4 other highlights I haven't tried from the brand that I might get just to swatch.
